Yesterday a new issue of @SonictheComicUK went up over at http://stconline.co.uk !!
Here's a thread of my art for the issue - if you'd rather read it first, head over there!
Okay so this one gets a tweet all to itself as I think it is the best comics page I've ever done. Panel 3 is possibly the best panel I've ever drawn. I love the delay on the thunder after the lightning too - that was a last minute decision and I think it worked very well!
My partner @nanadouken and I were, like many of us, struggling this year, so duties kept getting bounced back and forth. They did the colouring for the last four pages and knocked it out of the park!
This is a story I've been wanting to tell for a while. The question at the heart of Knuckles' character is: what happened to the echidnas? There have been tons of theories and speculation. Going forward I'd like to explore that question, and how it affects him.
Editorially, I was also tasked with tying up some loose ends. I feel bad for giving the Knuckles Metallix such an unceremonious send-off, but expediency was key. I'm kind of proud I packed so much into 5 pages; if you're mad about the Metallix, hopefully you're mad at Zachary!
Next is Chaotix: Ghosts. Once again there was some editorial reasoning behind the big twist at the end of this chapter (again, spoilers if you haven't read it yet!) You'll get the full scope of that innn... two or three issues' time?
This was a strip that's gone through a few iterations - the original's been kicking around since 2013, and had Espio make an obnoxious "ninjas are wimps" jab at the wider continuity. I like to think I've got a bit more decorum nowadays.
I also watched @B_Mask_'s video on the Fantastic Four, which made me realise how big a spoof STC's Chaotix were. The script was changed fairly recently to trim the fat (6 pages to 5) and make the Technosphere more like a twisted version of Marvel's New York.
The reasons for this should become clear with the big twist at the end of this issue.

I got pretty emotional drawing this page, realising that I was never going to be able to show Nigel Dobbyn my rendition of the Crimson Cobra. I hope it's silly enough that he'd have enjoyed it.
This was the first strip I coloured completely by myself (with flats by @MamboCat84 and assistance on page 1 by @nanadouken) and honestly I'm kind of stupefied that it came out looking even half decent. Colouring has been my Everest for years and I think I'm really getting there!
Anyway that's it for my contributions. It took a while but I honestly think #278's one of our best ever - Sonic hits all the right notes comedically and dramatically; Alex Kidd is a hoot; and that Decap is Kitching/Rayner quality.
