Embarrassing question time: fellow political scientists, what do we know about ranked choice voting? How do I vote on Massachusetts Q2? (small thread)

My household keeps having annoying dinner conversations about RCV that end, like all good convos w/loved ones, with me wailing "those are EMPIRICAL claims!"
I can imagine various pros&cons, but ideally would rely on something other than my own intuition and/or cues from MA senators. I can see a couple working papers in google scholar, but what would you recommend reading about RCV& #39;s effects? @electionclark @MITelectionlab
Oh, and I see this 2015 Electoral Studies piece by Burnett & Kogan: is this the source of the No-on-2 claim (in the state& #39;s voter guide) about winners under RCV winning a "false majority"? Interesting: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.electstud.2014.11.006">https://doi.org/10.1016/j...
