The sobs.

That’s what’s sticking with me here in Louisville as I see the reaction to the Breonna Taylor announcement. I’ve covered a lot of these but I don’t remember ever seeing this much hurt, this much crying from protesters.
Protesters blocking an intersection.
Police have arrived.
This is Scoota Truth of Louisville. I asked what he had to say to the world given today’s news: “Fuck the system. If anyone can get killed how Breonna got killed by the police, there’s no way we should live in a society where that’s possible.”
First standoff between police and protesters.
After a loud but peaceful march of about 2 hours, police in riot gear confronted protesters and then began pushing them. A chemical agent was used and the officers began arresting protesters, dragging some to the ground by the collar. Officers then declare an unlawful assembly.
Cops declare an unlawful assembly downtown and telling protesters to leave. Protesters fairly thin in numbers but lots of police. Two armored vehicles and lots of batons.
As officers form a line across the street, a commander tells his officers: “Wall to wall. We own this area.”
