The climbing level of the 2020 Tour de France was one of the highest recorded since 1999 (same as the Armstrong years) but not as high as the editions between 1994-1998. Uphill, Tadej Pogacar is the fastest winner of the Tour since Alberto Contador, 2009. #Tdf2020

Since 1999, I would say that only 3 guys were faster than Pogacar on the Tour's climbs: Lance Armstrong, Floyd Landis (just that one day) and Alberto Contador. And I'm not even so sure about Alberto! #TdF2020

Nobody in cycling's history climbed as fast as Tadej Pogacar at his age! NO ONE! Andy Schleck and Egan Bernal did some amazing things but Pogi's level was higher. #TDF2020

Pogacar won the Tour with Contador '09-like performances of Annecy ITT-Verbier mixed into a single ride. He pushed ~6,9 w/kg on PDBF after beating the TT specialists on the flat for 40 min. Tadej is not the most aero rider so I don't want to imagine his numbers... #TdF2020

Inigo San Millan, Pogacar's coach says Pogi can ride one hour at 6,4 w/kg ("around 415 watts for his 65 kilograms"). That's a huge number but my humble guess is that he rode a tad higher that day. #TDF2020

One thing is certain: Tadej Pogacar never showed before the Planche des Belles Filles ITT such power against the clock. That's why nobody expected this. But again, he's only 22. The kids grow fast, don't they? Even from one day to the next... #TDF2020
