Till this day I am yet to find a build that infatuates me as much as Rusty Slammington

Quick thread on the car and why it's so special, build quality aside.
Started life as 1JZ swapped E28 535i stance car that burned down in a garage fire months before its Sema debut

Mike Burroughs knew he had one of two choices. Call it quits and move on to the next build or start from scratch but this time push his mechanical inclination to the limit.
Safe to say he chose the latter
. The inside frame was cut out and replaced with a full tubular chassis

The inspiration of the build was to create a Group 5 spec E28 M5 hence it only made sense to source a M motor. The crappy US-spec S38B35 was the most suitable candidate.
The S38 was sent over to the I6 gurus over at VAC Motorsports for extensive work. First came stroker rods...

Forged pistons, a lightweight flywheel, flowed and ported heads, massive lift cams and a compression ratio increase of 14:1. The motor will now churn out a staggering 510hp at the crank. That's no easy feat for an NA 3.8L
It'll also sing all the way to a scorching 12,000 RPM

Exhaust gasses are expelled via a custom fab'd 6-2-1 manifold with a lovely side pipe.
The car sits on centerlock BBS E57's off a Le mans Porsche 962 prototype
. 18s up front 19's at the rear.
The "Rusty" looks is no paint job or wrap, it's real fire damage from that sad day

This build signifies that not matter how tough the hardships, they can sometimes be blessings in disguise so never ever succumb to the pressures of life
Rusty now lives at the Bmw CCA Foundation, the second largest Bmw museum in the world. I think it deserves its spot there

Truth is...A couple of character-limited tweets could never do this car justice. I hope it did something though
As always your time is very much appreciated. Take care
