A grand jury has indicted Brett Hankison in three counts of wanton endangerment in the #BreonnaTaylor case.
Myles Cosgrove and Johnathan Mattingly were not indicted by a grand jury in the #BreonnaTaylor case.
And if I understand correctly, these charges of wanton endangerment against Hankison were not related to Breonna Taylor’s death, but rather his blindly firing into neighboring apartments.
To hear @kyoag discuss the indictment of Brett Hankison on charges of wanton endangerment the night #BreonnaTaylor died, watch here: https://www.facebook.com/wlkynews/videos/933673167122506/?vh=e&extid=TvNg9G6zAlwDYAFR&d=n
Now on stage, @kyoag appearing on stage with special prosecutors in #BreonnaTaylor case. AG Daniel Cameron says he spoke with Tamika Palmer and knows nothing can take away the loss of her daughter.
Cameron: “My job as a special prosecutor in this case was to put emotions aside” and look at the facts in the case.
Cameron says their investigation shows Hankison, Mattingly and Cosgrove identifies themselves before entering apartment. Cited “a witness.”
Cameron: Ballistics report shows Mattingly was shot by 9mm. @LMPD officers were carrying different ammunition.
Cameron: FBI ballistics shows fatal bullet that killed Breonna Taylor fired by Myles Cosgrove.
Cameron: Our investigation found Mattingly and Cosgrove were justified in their use of force.
Cameron says six classes of homicide charges were not justified in the case because he believes Mattingly and Cosgrove were justified in their use of force, and Hankison’s bullets hit neighboring apartment, not Taylor.
Cameron: “If we simply act on emotion or outrage, there is no justice.” Reaction to indictment shows what kind of society they want and whether they really want the truth, he says.
Cameron also calls out celebrities and activists who do not live in Kentucky and will try to influence what happens here.
Cameron says he is convening a task force to look at search warrants in Kentucky, and to determine if changes are required.
Cameron would not say whether his special prosecutors recommended charges and would not talk about racial or gender makeup of grand jury.
Cameron says he will not be releasing the investigation at this time, but hinted he may revisit that decision. One can only assume after Hankison’s trial is over.
