Decent crowd and lots of media in the park ahead of the Breonna Taylor announcement.

The guy speaking is pushing for a peaceful protest. He says “white man check white man, Black man check black man.”
We’ve just listened to the charges.

Brett Hankison has been charged with 3 counts of wanton endangerment. No charges for the other officers and these are the only charges for Hankison. $15,000 bond:
Here’s how the crowd reacted after hearing these are the only charges brought today + the bond amount. People are angry, sad:
People are beginning to march, and they’re angry. Several people with cameras have been pushed out.
We’re marching through the closed off section of downtown
People are in tears and others are incredibly angry. We’re still matching, with chants of “you can’t stop the revolution” breaking out:
The crowd just exited the blocked off potion of downtown and have taken over an intersection. Cars are being told to turn around.

The charges are a Class D felony in KY. 1-5 year sentence max, I’m told by a lawyer:
A parked U-Haul was waiting for the crowd up the street. It contains supplies such as signs, shields, water etc. I’m not sure how people knew what it contained. Police are up ahead
Tense here as police block the crowd. People are calling for the march to continue and to head towards the highway
More tense moments as police are out all over this road — they’re allowing the crowd to pass. Some people stop and taunt an officer who is inside the vehicle:
The large crowd — I’d estimate several hundred — are resting at an intersection. They’re regrouping and getting organized. Shields to the front, as we’ve seen before:
People from the crowd shout at those standing outside their homes but not actively participating in the march.

“Get out y’all motherfuckin’ houses, this shit ain’t for spectating, this shit ain’t for show!” One woman says.
A bus stops as the crowd marches through. Some people start targeting the driver a bit and one woman opened up the gas tank but wasn’t able to get the cap off. We’re still marching.
People are beginning to get more rowdy...some windows are being broken as we continue to march
Buildings are being targeted as are people filming. The situation is getting more tense. With the first business, a man quickly walked inside and locked the door as someone confronted him:
. @BGOnTheScene was surrounded and pushed out (for filming, I believe). He’s okay:
The crowd meets a line of police officers who are preventing them from moving forward
Police officers surround the crowd after some pushing and shoving. Multiple people have been detained and some crowd control munitions were deployed:
The now-familiar “move back” chant from police is heard here as they push back stragglers from the crowd, which has largely dispersed.
A LOT of cop cars driving past us towards downtown. We’re heading there as well
We’re back downtown and police are out en masse all over. They’ve pushed crowds back and are on various streets near Jefferson Park
An unlawful assembly was declared a little bit ago. No one is leaving
Big crowds and a lot of police out here. People are sort of all over — holding lines near police, down on other roads, in the park. There has been some more people detained, too
I’m told that The Oath Keepers — a far right militia, around 25+ strong — are in Louisville, though not in the protest zone right now. Will keep an eye on that for everyone.
Someone in the crowd told everyone to meet up at Jefferson Park later this evening at 8:30. A lot of people are still out though, chanting and talking
*As an extra note, here is how The Oath Keepers describes itself as a group. They’re reportedly here to protect businesses
The scene has calmed somewhat as we await the 8:30 call to meet at the park. People are sitting around, others are talking and there’s a crowd chanting and giving speeches.
Two protesters are sharpening sticks. There’s also a small fire across the street at the Hall of Justice. Crowd is still standing around.
Here’s the fire and the scene around Jefferson Park right now
Another fire just set at the Hall of Justice and police warn that it’s an unlawful assembly
Police officers just came out of the Hall of Justice to put out the fires. One officer was hit with something and fell to the ground. Some in the crowd cheered.

Officers retreated back into the building
Dumpster fires have been set. One contained a firework, which went off shortly after this photo was taken
More fires and the crowd is on the move out here now
Lots of windows are being smashed throughout this march. Right before the crowd left Jefferson Square, a loudspeaker announcement reminded everyone that it’s been declared an unlawful assembly
An emergency alert just reminded people that there’s a curfew beginning at 9pm
As the crowd marched under an overpass, a commotion broke out and everyone started to run (I’m not sure why)
Everyone just scattered after several loud bangs. I can’t confirm what it was, but police moved in quickly and everyone started to run.
