Access is 100% important and glad the Chinese gov for building more but I've seen 10 times more squats with the stalls falling apart that are ill maintained than ones like the photo. Esp at tourist attractions and on the streets in areas like gulou in BJ and down hutongs

UK is not better on this, I must stress. But praising China on this when their public toilets (outside buildings like malls) are dire is just kinda disingenuous. China has lots to be admired (the subway and train system is a dream) but this is not an example of that

Undoubtedly, this is important but, based on the current state of public toilets in China, I'd be surprised if this gave the residents who need it most an actual safe and clean space as they deserve.
