I don't man to belabor this, but Nikole Hannah-Jones has said the right invented the idea that 1619 project is about replacing 1776 as true date of founding. So it’s not even the case that NHJ used to say this, but has now changed her mind about what 1619 stands for. She’s still saying this!

This is not even the most salient criticism of the 1619 Project, in my view. It really just speaks to the author’s baffling penchant for doublespeak, and ultimately undermines her credibility.
