My dad's skills as a builder allowed my family a rare opportunity for a wonderful home despite having very little money behind us. He and my mum got a mortgage to buy a plot of land in the fens with a crumbled cottage on it for 18,000 plus 40,000 for materials

and they built a new house on it while we lived in a caravan on the land. It was a wonderful place to grow up and it was a special thing to see my parents do for us. Was this in the council's five year plan? Would this have been rejected sight unseen under this proposal?

My parents (my dad's mum was Romany) were able to get planning permission, but Travellers are often forced to build first, ask forgiveness later because racist councils refuse planning permission for Travellers in over 90% of cases!!!!!!!!!!!

This build first, forgiveness later is hardly an unusual thing to do in general and is not illegal
