small thread
1/n On June 28,1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand(heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne)and his wife Sophie were assassinated en route to the Bosnian capital Sarajevo by 19yr old Gavrilio Princip. This was the immediate cause of world war one https://twitter.com/amintheother/status/1308786313496272898
2/n I've read from two different sources with different chains of events but I still find it interesting. The first says the assassins hesitated when the Archduke's car passed by but when his driver later took a wrong turn, the conspirators had another chance and finished the job
The second says one of the conspirators threw a grenade at the car but missed/the driver dodged. Some time later, when the Archduke was returning, the driver took a wrong turn. He stopped the car and by chance backed up to where the assassins were.
In conclusion, maybe this war may/wouldn't have happened if this driver didn't take a wrong turn that led to the assassination of the Archduke and in turn spark a chaIn of events that led to the WW1
