Interesting thread from a biz POV. However, as a fan invested in BTS for the group's music & artistry, I can't stand their current positioning & strategy which isn't in line w/ my personal expectations. https://twitter.com/WomenLeisure/status/1308652550846062594
What's tragic is that it's pointless to hope something will change since the majority of the fandom fits their buyer persona aka "the blind loyal fan". As long as y'all keep eating whatever the company puts out, there will be no change. They have no reason to, because it works.
I'm not trying to do some anti-company propaganda. I'm just stating facts and my disappointment as a fan who knew what it was like when BigHit was still an entertainment company and dedicated their budget into music & artistry. Their current model doesn't fit me as a consumer.
And the reason why I don't leave is because I'm still attached to the boys as PEOPLE. That's where my loyalty comes from. Not as the products BigHit turned them into.
I do have to give BH's kudos for smoothly converting most of their initial customer base (ent. comp) into their new objectives (IP comp). They would literally be dumb not to use that to generate more $$$ and secure their future without BTS. https://twitter.com/WomenLeisure/status/1308652559004061696
If you struggle to stick a label on my acc like "is she solo? is she ami? is she anti-comp?". I'm none of these. I'm a fan w/ a lot of perspective bc of my professional experience in business/marketing/communication/advertising. I got in for the boys. I'm still here for the boys.
However I do know how to dissociate the boys from the company and the whole corporate/biz environment. So my opinions will always be factual and nuanced. I literally cherry pick what I like from what they still have to give and that's about it. I'm not looking for drama.
If you identify yourself as part of the fandom, that's fine! That's because you find value and personal interest in what you're consuming/buying. I don't judge from my lens because I know everyone is in it for different reasons and I don't try to make my reasons be yours.
