Since I got called to Bar in 2017, it’s been the practice of Judges to take notes of proceedings themselves and in longhand. Wrists hurts. Backs too. We bought our externship Judge a pillow. The welfare they need is in pillows & stenographers/digital transcription tech. https://twitter.com/jidesanwoolu/status/1308737384649981954
@jidesanwoolu Investing in digital transcription and courtroom infrastructure will cost a lot less than these SUVs, which are unnecessary btw. Judges are assumed to have been in successful practice for, at least, 10 years. They don’t have a mobility problem. They don’t.
@jidesanwoolu writing in long hand delays cases and occasions significant waste of judicial time. I’d be on my feet for 30 minutes and the Judge is only identifying my processes and taking down my name and introductory details. We can fix this.
@jidesanwoolu Digital transcription is currently being used in arbitrations here in Nigeria. It’s magic and helps efficiency. If we don’t want that, let’s hire stenographers. 2 per Judge. 50k per month. 1.2m per year. Jobs created. Money saved. Better justice dispensation. etc.
@jidesanwoolu These are just my views, Mr Governor. Just my views.
