I have always counted myself as a hard worker. And I am, I can work unstoppably for hours. I can wear different hats. And assign me any task and I will do whatever it takes to get the job done.
That may seem an interesting and potential profile. But, I got aged, and I have learned that pushing yourself to the extended limits all the time wasn't such a good plan. Success is not about the massiveness, extremes, or even the passion.
It is all about perseverance. Your talent/mind is like a muscle that needs consistently training even when you don't feel like working out. Even when you don't have the power to get out of the bed, You will show up.
It is like running. You might not think about your breathing as much as you do your form, cadence, mileage, and running route. But most probably, it is the key. Breathing is the only thing standing between you and good performance.
That simple action that you are doing every day is the thing you are doing wrong. I learned that baby steps are the key for long miles, and I may have lost all my previous races because I kept running when all I had to do was walking consistently.
I'm thinking about all the times that I couldn't handle my break downs because I put too much pressure on myself, and I let my emotions mess me up. If only I could handle my time and power correctly, I could have reached my destination with far less effort.
And believe me, I was once a kid, and I cried my heart out when I watched the beautiful mind and the Pursuit of Happyness. I hoped to work unstoppable. and this will be the secret to getting a Nobel Prize or joining this amazing business that embraces no one but brilliant people.
But this is not the case. Those are just movies. All you had to do is doing your 9 AM to 5 PM work smoothly, control your mental health, and exercise your mind. Don't believe the workaholic (Like me) I am a workaholic and I am telling you I could have done it better.
Recently I am trying to build myself a system. Generate new habits. And it is very exhausted.
