Looks like we may get a decision from the @kyoag on the #BreonnaTaylor case today.
This stuff is really confusing on the best day, and I'm assuming many of you, like me, didn't go to law school.
So here's a brief cheat sheet on what all of this means. (1/7)

Normally, LMPD's own Professional Integrity Unit investigates police shootings.
Then Commonwealth Attorney Tom Wine decides whether or not the officers did anything that violated the law.
There's a separate investigation to see if they violated LMPD policy.

This time, Wine recused himself because he was prosecuting Kenneth Walker, Taylor's boyfriend. (Those charges were later dropped.)
So Attorney General Daniel Cameron stepped in. He received that internal investigation on May 20. (3/7) https://wfpl.org/police-turn-over-results-of-internal-investigation-into-breonna-taylor-shooting-to-ag/

Cameron did additional investigating, it appears, to determine whether or not the officers broke the law.
Also the FBI is now involved. (4/7) https://wfpl.org/federal-officials-invited-to-review-lmpd-investigation-of-breonna-taylor-killing/

We've heard that Cameron has taken this case to a grand jury to decide whether or not to indict the officers.
Here's an explainer from @DivaOfDiversity on what that means: https://wfpl.org/what-exactly-does-a-grand-jury-do/ (5/7)

When people say "The Cameron Decision," that's what they mean: Whether a grand jury thinks the officers who shot and killed Breonna Taylor violated any laws.
If yes, they will be indicted and eventually there will be a trial (or a plea deal.) If no, well, that's it. (6/7)

Cameron doesn't decide whether to fire the officers. That decision lies with the city.
Criminal charges could, potentially, increase the likelihood of firing. But those decisions will not necessarily come together.
Ok, that's all I know. Be safe, Louisville. (7/7)
