Today marks one year since my last flight. And for many of my colleagues it was their last flight, ever.

The airline collapsed and dragged down with it a great crew with a ton of experience, ending some of their careers for good. A legacy carrier that belonged to another era.

The ones who thrive to survive in this ruthless aviation world will face more challenges down the road. Little we knew back then...

After nearly a dozen interviews and a job secured, I was ready to fly again.

Then Covid came along, and wiped away the dreams of many. And once again there I was, again knowing that I’m on a ship that is sinking, this time it was the whole industry.

Your training has been postponed, new date: undefined. And I find myself waiting for a call that never arrives.

But aviation goes up and down. And we who dare to make a living out of it, have taken a beating or two, and will take a few more.

When I’m back. When we’re back. All this should make us value every second in the air, every click of a switch, every turn of a knob. All those moments we have long fought for.

And who knows. Maybe this time I’ll fly an Airbus like the one Adria had back then.
