So HMD Global is set to roll out the Nokia 8.3 5G in Kenya, and based on a conversation currently happening with @NokiaMobile, I have a few thoughts.
The primary angle on the Nokia 8.3 seems to be the optics - specifically, the Zeiss Optics at the heart of the camera setup. (Quad camera, of course. It is, after all, the year of our Lord 2020.)
Front and centre? The ability to shoot. To shoot video, to shoot photos.

On video, the ability to shoot in 16:9 (that cinematic screen ratio), plus the option for flares in-app, as well as 4K shooting. Plus what they're calling "Action Cam" for stability.
On photo, if my experience with last year's 7.2 is anything to go by, then this year's Nokia 8.3 should pack a beautiful punch with the 64MP Zeiss sensor as the main shooter, plus an ultra wide, a macro, and a depth sensor to carve out those portrait mode shots.
Now, I don't have the phone in my hand yet to attest to its shooting capabilities, but that's part of what I'm building towards: In a market with so much happening, right out of the gate, it may be essential for HMD (in Kenya, at least) to...
... get the 8.3 in the hands of people with everyday experience in visual storytelling to append their approval of the device's capabilities on that front. Heck, I've only seen the spec sheet, so I for one would one to see how it holds up in everyday use.
Speaking of everyday use: I thought the 2-day battery promise was something reserved for the midrange Nokia line.

I was wrong.

This Nokia flagship for 2020, the 8.3, comes with the same promise. 2 days of battery, on a Snapdragon 765G. Which...
It may not be the latest chipset, but HMD's approach seems to be one of optimisation: a trifecta of a recent chip, paired with ample RAM (options of 6GB & 8GB for the 8.3), and the lightness and speed of the pure Android One experience, eking out performance & that battery life.
Beyond that, the simple things that I like to see: There's a headphone jack! Remember those? Remember those beautiful things? Yeah, the Nokia 8.3 has one of those!

Also, a side-loaded fingerprint sensor that doubles up as the power button. The simple things that make me happy.
Then there's the name: "Nokia 8.3 5G." Sounds clunky? I agree with you. But, it strikes me as a deliberate reminder of the fact that Nokia is also in the business of 5G, given a recent competitors troubles. 'Who are we' talking about, I wonder...
To wrap it up for now: With a massive 6.81 inches of screen real estate on the 8.3, Nokia seems to be making a calculated move for a specific segment that knows what they want from a phone. Let's see how it plays out in the hand, once it comes to market.
