$7.5bn for Bethesda seems insane to me. That’s what Disney paid for Star Wars and Marvel; guaranteed hitmakers. What was Bethesda’s last mega-hit? Skyrim is nine years old. The last Fallout was a big disappointment.

I’m not saying these studios won’t make amazing games; I’m sure they will. But beyond TES the IP isn’t guaranteed big sellers. Shows how much cash MS is prepared to sink into Gamepass to make it the dominant Netflix of gaming.

MS have spent $7.5bn in order to give these Bethesda games away for $15 a month. Whilst that’s amazing for consumers, I have two concerns; how long does it stay that cheap, and how do the games change to accommodate sitting on a subscription model?
