Should i do a tips and tricks thread on how to write an okay caption for rp updates

Note: I write tips and tricks for a living so this will be an easy to skim content

Ooook so let’s begin from why RP is created at all: for writing purposes. People decided that fanfics weren’t enough and they wanted a more immersive experience, thus, RP came to creation.

Basically writing captions is.. well, creative writing.

But you’re writing as the person that you’re roleplaying. So, how do we write ok captions then? Easy.

1.) Make sure to write from YOUR point of view.

This is where most RPs fall short. As a rule of thumb, assume that it is yourself writing all of the things —

you’re about to post. If it’s you, or if it’s the idol (to stay IC, right...) would they write in that manner?

Writing from a fan’s point of view might make your captions look narcissistic and off of the immersive experience that RP is all about.

2.) keep your sentences concise and comprehensible.

Yes I’m talking about those unfamiliar words you pick up from a thesaurus. Close the site... and reexamine what message you’re about to send to your audience, please.

Artistic captions, fine. But do know that nobody enjoys

a writing that has no meaning (crackhead idols excluded..)

This is just a tip and you might have other preferences but i think it’s nicer if you put space between your sentences so that your tweets are easy to read.

3.) Iqra...

Iqra means Please Read. You see, from reading you can pick up quotes, pick up a writing style, learn words that were unfamiliar to you and you can use it to enrich your captions!!!

Off topic but reading also trains your focus. Good for the long run.

4.) take references from... anywhere!

This is the best thing about RP. Your characters, they’re the rendition of your muse. YOU are the one in charge of how you want to make this character appealing with your own creativity.

This is what i do all the time. I take quotes from movies, from a book, even music. Then, i expand it or take its essence and rewrite it in my own way.

This is easier to the brain since i know you all are busy people doing difficult things in your life...

5.) don’t hardsell.

A lot of idols are brand ambassadors, i understand that rps just want to be IC and promote the product, but hardselling it is not really rp in my opinion.

If you really want to advertise it, refer to point 1. That way, it’s easier for fellow rps to

just consume or interact with. An excellent example of this is Rowoons and his Gongcha endorsement.

I might expand this thread if i can think of some more tips but for now i think this covers all the important points of making an ok rp caption.

Do know that this is my personal opinion. After all, RP is a playground and you can do anything you want to do —

As long as it’s not harming anyone. Right? Right.
