So as promised, a little introductory thread to French Rap and hip hop for my non-french friends and comrades. Keep in mind I& #39;m no expert just an aficionada so les français soyez indulgents and feel free to reply with music that you find relevant.
I& #39;m gonna share a little old school 90& #39;s french rap, 2000s rap and more recent rap which I am a bit more familiar with.
Also more than french rap this is gonna be rap francophone, so it might include some Belgian and Caribbean rappers altho I& #39;m more familiar with French ones
Also Quebecois please don& #39;t hate me I know virtually nothing about Quebec rap so feel free to reply with suggestions
Let& #39;s get started:
(Also I will try my best to offer a very brief description of the rappers in this thread, what sub genre they fit into, as accurately as I can articulate it)
I& #39;ll start with Kery James, cause all you leftists might like him, he& #39;s a Haitian and French rapper who would fit into what we call "rap conscient", which is a more politically engaged form of rap that I would describe as heavier social and political commentary...
... (although a lot french rap has at least some form of political commentary):
