Shout out to everyone who is dealing with trauma while listening to current witnesses talking about administering drugs without consent and who are dealing with memories of substitute decision making, forced administration of medication. #DisabilityRoyalCommission @DRC_AU
Jesus.
2/ Talking about environmental issues for disabled people. She might be great - families might like her a lot. She is now talking about behaviours of concern caused by abuse.

WHY ARE WE NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT THE ABUSE IT IS A ROYAL COMMISSION

Let's just talk about his trauma.
3/ 'There's a good relationship between the group home and the family.' The group home where 2 of the staff were abusing this man, who sat on the floor, eating glass from a window he had smashed.

We are talking about abuse, framed by a GP about the 'behaviour' of a disabled man.
4/ Does nobody else see a problem with this?

And that young man is still in that group home where he is abused.

Let me tell you what it is like to sleep in the bed where you have been raped. Or does that matter?

Me, I developed 'challenging behaviours'.
5/ They did not call it that. They called it 'running away'. They couldn't see my self harm, because I didn't have an intellectual disability as well as autism.

The people who should be giving evidence here are that young man and his family. And the perpetrators.

But nope.
6/ Why is nobody asking about whether that young man got trauma counselling? How much choice he had in fucking off from that group home and provider forever? Who asked him if he was okay and who helped him be safe forever? We are talking about this in the context of his BEHAVIOUR?
7/ Imagine having a Royal Commission into violence against women, almost completely run by men, where men are being asked why other men rape and kill women. Men's helplines.

And asking about the psychological impact on women from a perspective of the woman being the problem.
8/ This is so contrary to human rights principles I cannot even. I do not understand why the Royal Commission we fought so hard for has turned to this. A thing where the people on the stand who are speaking FOR us are people like our perpetrators, not like us.
9/ Nothing about us without us. It's not a fluffy concept. Please, @DRC_AU - you need to start to get this right, because at present, this is really awful and offensive and triggering and not okay.

Love to the mad people everywhere and those who have watched this.
