Reminiscing a bit about the incredible shit I saw when I worked in the rare books collection of a famous medical school’s library
I could do a thread about truncated titles on barcode labels, but fortunately I retain a shred of self-respect
we found the four fragments in four variously located books. That they apparently remained where the writer left them says something, I guess, about this technique for meeting people.
If you’re enjoying this thread, may I also suggest my long thread of incredible marbled endpapers and boards I came across while working in that collection? https://twitter.com/corsent/status/1159138363120717824
I came upon this and can only assume it was intentional—a silly little visual joke that still brings me much joy.

The skull and tamping iron of Phineas Gage. Alas, none of the exhibits of the Warren Anatomical Museum is currently on public display owing to renovations

A catalog of microfiche titles, which is itself a microfiche title.
Question: Could it be a microfiche title that catalogs all and only those microfiche titles that do not catalog themselves?

Nice sentiment, but ffs look at those preposterous caricatures
