Something I never see talked about enough is the harassment of young LGBTQ+ teens by older adults. When I was 16 I was looking for a job and I was interviewed at this smoothie place. During the interview the person asked me if I was gay. (Which immediately was a red flag)
After answering yes he smiles at me and basically just said okay. He gave me a tour of the store and when we were in his office about to sign papers he asked me: “Would you ever have sex with somebody older than you” as he locked the door. I’ve never been more scared in my life
I answered with a hard No and he started talking to me about STDs and he offered me some condoms and even said he could teach me to put them on. Thankfully I got a phone call and I used that as an excuse to leave and I never went back.
I was still in the closet at the time and couldn’t tell any of my family members. The only thing I did was I called the corporate and they immediately fired him. However he harassed me on social media/my phone for weeks. I even had to change my number.
I felt so powerless since I couldn’t get support from anyone.
