idk how to explain this to yall but here in brazil, at least, where i live but im pretty sure its like this in the rest of the country too, lightskins usually aren't seen as black ppl, they're often called "moreno/a" or "pardo/a" (which is a more complicated word and applies +
more to mixed race than skin colour, but most people don't tend to stick to the actual meaning of the word). anyway, what I mean to say is that the racial experience of a black person here isn't the same of a person in the usa, which does seems obvious but i have noticed +
that some usa citizens think their life experience applies to the whole world. it doesn't. what some of you may see like a poc is white to us, and so on. this is also due to colorism, but as the brazilian population is mostly mixed, race and skin colour is a confusing topic +
im talking all this from experience, because i dont know for sure my heritage. mom says her father side of the family was indigenous, my grandma says they were black too, and this is why i identify myself as parda because its unfair of me to stick to only one part of my heritage
i don't know what i intended w this thread but i needed to get all of this out my chest. its something that pains me because all my family knowledge and history are gone, all of them died and no one cared to learn about it, as far as I know
