Hey so I can’t believe we’re having this conversation, but after the number of messages I’ve been getting, stay tuned for the twisted indulgences thread.
Twisted Indulgences (TI) is a mafia AU with VERY strong horror themes. It was never meant to be a love story. It’s not a power fantasy. It’s you putting yourself in the shoes of a young woman who saw something she shouldn’t have.
NONE of the characters are good. Hyeri is a sexual sadist with a slew of other mental issues, a dependency disorder & OCD being among the top candidates for why she’s so.....her. She’s not meant to be likable. She’s meant to be predatory. Dangerous.
She’s charismatic and unhinged, and it leads to a character I’ve meant to portray as intensely difficult to predict. I characterized Jungkook and Taehyung this way as well. Disarmingly charming, with something bad lurking below the surface.
Yoongi and Jimin are supposed to be portrayed as people who do bad things for good reasons. They’re protecting people they care about, and perhaps to an extent they’ve been convinced that this IS how you take care of them. You don’t make them make hard choices about mental health
You *indulge* them. This behavior contributed to why the three youngest are so lost in that psychosis. They’ve been conditioned into believing there’s nothing wrong with them, when their drastically is. #

Those three are the master manipulators, the ones responsible for what’s going on, and metaphorically ones pulling the strings. That’s why they’re distant and cold, it’s all part of a grander scheme for them. Everyone else is a puppet.
I wrote this thread because I’ve gotten a lot of questions about the romance side of twisted indulgences and when that will kick off, as well as some asking why I chose to use mental illness as the crutch of the characterization.
TI was never meant to be a romance story. And mental illness wasn’t meant to be portrayed as evil or dark. I’d be more than happy to talk about my thought process with anyone who asks, just as I always have been. Just don’t come into TI expecting a love drama.
