really bold choice for christopher nolan to open tenet with an action scene that literally puts an auditorium of people to sleep
there's something really dystopic in how bloodless nolan's violence is but i'm too braindead to articulate it right now
i'm an hour and fifty minutes into this nearly three hour movie and i'm waiting for the part where it gets incomprehensible
there's a lot of this film that seems really complicated but it's actually very easy to understand when you remember that it's a dumb action movie made by a rich white man who's never been told no
in true nolan style, the core concept is actually really cool... he just uses it to tell the most bland story imaginable
tenet does some really cool things and i think on the whole i'd be way more impressed by it if i hadn't read homestuck and thus been made immune to confusing time travel bullshit
there's one really cool setpiece at the end of the film that i am 100% certain occurred to nolan in a dream, and the entire rest of the film was just an elaborate justification to make it happen. and like, to nolan's credit? it is a really cool setpiece
it was a dumb movie. it was fine. genuinely clever in places, neat core concept, etc etc. whatever. it's a capitalist love story and like every other fucking hollywood movie it's trying very hard to not be about a damned thing
it would have been so much better if the two men kissed
my one personal gripe is that there's a depiction of spousal abuse that goes WAY harder than any of the other violence in the film, and it really tips nolan's hand
