The plus-sides to digital color:

Preserves artist intent.
Color is free and can be shared/copied.
Color is editable (until you save and are done)
Color is easy to sample.
Information isn't lost in transmission/duplication
(forgetting compression and shitty color profiles, ugh)
The weird-sides to digital color:

Absolute white and absolute black exist (which is WEIRD!)
Completely non-chromatic grays are available, too. And people often use them by default (WEIRD!)
The down-sides to digital color:

Requires electricity.
Requires hardware/software to process.
Some programs read/open color differently, because of color profiles.
Your carefully chosen digital colors don't reproduce as well when they leave the digital 'screen' environment.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Especially in the *weird* category, because we're so used to it now. Digital color is pretty strange when to step back and ponder it.
