in Blaseball, the players can decide Monday they want to bring a player back from the dead, the player can return on Friday, and the following Monday she enters the pitching rotation, complete with multiple new (and player-exclusive) mechanics. in AAA this would take months (4/n)
there will be a lot of discussion of Blaseball mechanics and storytelling and its visual design will be waved away as "oh, well @thegameband is a small team, so we'll accept it" but it's critical to realize Blaseball is what it is BECAUSE of its zero-friction aesthetic (5/5)
(6/5) I'm just imagining adding "Unstable" status to a AAA game. You'd have new pitching animations, hit animations, beaning SFX, instability SFX, debt paid VFX and SFX, probably need to juice up Jaylen's model to show she's "Returned", audio for all of it
(7/5) and of course since some players are deer and robots and catboys and what not they may have different models and rigging so you need to test the Beaning effect on every possible player, which means QA overtime, etc. etc. ... never make a game
