I am reading the Harry Potter books for the first time. I I think I’ll start “live tweeting” whenever I read in case anyone is interested in a newbie’s virgin views on these books. (I’ve seen all the movies but I don’t remember most of what happened in them.)
Should I use a hashtag when tweeting about this? Should I reply to this thread every time? Start a new thread for every book? What do you think?
I just finished book 2, so my live tweets will start with book 3. Review of 2: Chambie of Seekies follows the same story beats as the first, but does it better imo: central mystery, red herring character, Harry does climax alone after being separated from sidekicks, etc.
That’s just a few similar beats I could fit in one tweet. I’m told this is the formula for most of the books lol, so I’ll try not to make such an obvious statement in the future.
I wish the author were more descriptive. For example, it wasn’t clear to me the size of the big spiders and the basilisk. Would have loved some perspective.
Professor Lockhart is such a great character! My favorite in the series so far. Very happy to see he’s played by Kenneth Branagh. Perfect casting. Could also see Hugh Jackman pull off this role really well.
Something I thought was interesting about book 2 is that the mastermind villain was only tangentially related to the saga’s antagonist. It wasn’t truly Voldemort, but a personification of his memory/spirit that was stuck in time. Also, V is 66 y/o?! Really thought he was younger.
Dang, so when shit goes down in book 7 he’s gonna be 71?? Smh should be in wizard retirement home not invading a high school.
