Just a thread to @benjaminbutter after today. I am disappointed that no sensible discussion was possible because Ben was too interested in presenting a “gotcha” and going after me personally.
Firstly, I do believe that any sex outside heterosexual marriage is sinful. Including adultery.
All our language about sin is predicated around a God who loves us, wants us to flourish and has given us a positive vision and plan to do that.
I choose to follow that.

Christian language about sin cannot be understood without a God of love.
The language of sin is not the language of hate or a God who hates us.
It’s so sad that this is interpreted by Ben and others negatively.

Clearly other people will disagree with me and are free to.
Christians don’t or at least shouldn’t hate others for making different choices. We just ask for the freedom to teach our children our own beliefs in the hope that they will come to share them & lead happy & holy lives

So saying I think x is a sin, is not the same as saying I hate x people and/or want to deny them rights.
I genuinely wish people in same sex relationships well. I don’t wish harm or evil on anyone. The same goes for most Christians. We aren’t a hateful creed.

So being asked for personal moral views on sex and sexuality is not some kind of litmus paper test as to whether or not you are a bigot.
The only bigotry I see is that which insists that women have penises and every single sexual relationship or fetish must be celebrated.

Sadly when someone is trying to do a Paxman on you and demanding answers about exactly what I would say to my children if they were LGBT (which seems sinister) & projecting hate onto you, the nuance is lost.
When it comes to LGBT and all RSE, I think parents ought to have the right to determine what is appropriate for their child and when. Every child has a different stage of emotional maturity & schools must work with parents & not impose their own beliefs on sex/gender.
Every school must instil values of tolerance and respect in children. No child should be made to feel different or unwelcome because of who they are or their family background. This is basic. But this does not require specific lessons in sexual relationships.
Most primary school children are still trying to navigate the complexities of playground relationships without having the additional pressure of having to think about which gender identity or sexuality they might be as adults.
