Radio ad this morning: *scary music* MA voters! Vote "No" on question 1 if you want to keep hackers from accessing your brakes*!!!!Paid for by the Coalition for Safe and Secure data.

Me: Huh? That seems... Odd. Wonder who the Coalition for Safe and Secure Data is. *Googles*
(*The original ad was more detailed, but just as hyperbolic, so paraphrasing for the sake of Twitter.)
Huh, ok, they care about data privacy, cool. And... Domestic violence? Ok.... Wonder what question 1 actually is. *Opens up handy-dandy little booklet the state sent me that contains all this year's ballot info*
Oh, it just keeps car manufacturers from preventing third-party repair shops and private owners from accessing crucial info needed to repair cars. Huh. I wonder why this group wants to prevent that. *Scrolls down further on their site to find a donor list* Oh. That's why.
Know what's on your ballots, y'all. If your state didn't mail out a nice little booklet, check your state's secretary of state's website. Don't just trust an ad from some random group- check who their donors are.
Obligatory plug for MA voters: question 2 is for ranked-choice voting. Please, please vote yes, especially if you're sick of both parties. This is a way to help those smaller third-party bids gain some traction.

But hey, don't just trust me, check out your ballot book 😉
