I keep saying this but everyone must remember that just 159 yrs ago, this nation had a yrs-long civil war over keeping Black Americans enslaved. It’s relevant to the modern GOP demonstrating 1,000 different ways they’d rather destroy the republic than allow it to be multiracial.

Trump being the modern emblem & banner carrier for white supremacy can’t be separated from why he’s able to flagrantly break laws, commit treason, kill 200K+ Americans, represent opposite of “Christian family values” & still enjoy support of GOP & 40% of USA. It’s the explanation

Just over a century ago people formed armies, donned uniforms and fought each other to the death to prevent the freedom of Black Americans. The 16th US president was assassinated because he promised Black people the right to vote. This is recent historical context for 2020.

People who continue to wring their hands and express shock at what is happening are refusing to apply any historical context to the present because they don’t want to confront that the central issue in USA is racism & all the present woes stem from that.
