I've been diving into the mental health space. My learnings so far:

1. Mental health is a spectrum but it should be treated with a pyramid.

More mental models below (I'll continue to add to this thread) 🧵👇
During people's lives, they move along the "normal" <-> "clinical" spectrum.

Substances and trauma can push us to the right

Our genes can pre-dispose us to greater flucations

Support and treatment can help restore us to the left
But treatment shouldn't be a spectrum.
It should be a pyramid.

From top to bottom:

Rehab
Therapy, Medication
Coaching
Self-guided CBT, Community Support
Mediation, Exercise, Journalling
As you move up the pyramid, each layer should strengthen the layers below it.

And the pyramid should be connected.

Your therapist should speak to your coach and also help improve your use of self-guided CBT
Most solutions tackle one layer of the pyramid.

Instead, they should tackle a vertical throughout the pyramid aka Verticalised Healthcare
