When I lived in #AB & went to migrant justice rallies, we always made plans to figure out what to do if/when white supremacists invaded. This was from 2013-2015, so before Trump's election. Let's not assume that the #RedDeer racist counter-protests happened bc of Trump (!) /1

When going to different AB cities & towns, I saw confederate flags and even a sticker with the map of AB saying "fuck off, we're full" (targeting temporary foreign workers). Prairie racism (and, heck, Canadian racism) exists independently from American racism! /2

Let's also not pretend that the #RedDeer counter-protests are unique to AB! White supremacist groups are all across the country. It would be naive to think otherwise. /3
