We are proud that H.E. Volkan Bozkır is chairing this year's UNGA under these unprecedented circumstances. We are confident that he will be the voice of the less powerful and the less fortunate of the world, just as our President Erdogan does in every opportunity.

As our President Erdogan argued, the global challenges cannot be overcome with the current UN structure where only a group of 5 wield real power. The pandemic has shown once again the ineffectiveness of this system in the face of a global threat.

At the same time, Turkey has called for international solidarity and a robust response in all international platforms including the UN, G-20, IOC and others. Only a spirit of global cooperation can address the global threats and challenges facing humanity.

UNSG's Appeal for Global Ceasefire has not generated the necessary response. This is unfortunate especially in this pandemic environment and when our country is trying to address humanitarian challenges in Syria while fighting PKK/YPG & Daesh terror.

Global community continues to fail the less fortunate. Turkey is a direct witness of this failure in Syria, Libya, and Iraq among others. It is past time for the UN to take serious action on atrocities committed in violation of the Geneva Convention throughout conflict zones.

The ongoing occupation & oppression in Palestine cannot be hidden by pyrrhic diplomatic overtures. The deal of the century is simply a surrender plan refused by Palestinians. Israel is now trying to make its occupation accepted and legitimized by third countries.

In the Mediterranean, dialogue is the only answer. That’s why Turkey consistently endorsed talks.

We must urge all relevant parties to drop their maximalist demands and, specifically, push for a fair solution in Cyprus.
