So, deep within the Blue Labour Think Tank they’ve finally realised that losing the Red Wall was catastrophic for Labour.

To win it back, they’re trying to appeal to the flag shagging, xenophobic caricatures they imagine populate these constituencies. 1/?
They should have taken time to speak to these constituents, to face the anger many of us faced last December.

Brexit was their protest vote. Protesting against an establishment that for decades had forgotten them. Labour included.

2/?
Starmer and co. forced Labour into a position that could have taken Brexit away. Yet another betrayal.

The red wall won’t be won back by wall to wall Union Jacks and talk of Daily Mail patriotism.

We have to do the hard yards and understand that anger.

3/?
This approach from Starmer and his team is so lazy.

They’re trying to appeal to the voters we lost by being a slightly less repugnant version of the party we lost votes to.

We’re even copying their soundbites for fuck sake.

4/?
I can’t remember when I have felt this despondent about Labour.

But then I remember we have @IanLaveryMP @LauraSmithCrewe @LauraPidcock et al. We also have the fantastic @broxtowelabour who can show every constituency how to reach its constituents.

5/?
It’s going to be a long hard road, but today has made me even more determined to fight for Labour.

It’s a cliche I know, but the night is darkest just before the dawn. It could be a long night.

End.
