What ever he had in that room, it gave him strength to hold on every day. despite the abuse he was getting, he might've gone into the room afterwards saying "hold on...i just got to hold on longer"

I'm assuming Tsukasa and Amane walk to school and home together.
if amane is the only one with keys to the house and tsukasa doesnt, then amane needs to be there to open the door. So he cant go anywhere, like to the park or the store.
