Dear Christian brothers,

Toxic masculinity isn’t our standard. Our standard is Christ, and he disrupted the narrative of toxic masculinity: he was filled with compassion, he cried, showed vulnerability, had self control.
.
A THREAD FOR CHRISTIAN MEN!
A lot of Christian men still uphold toxic masculinity, and it’s sad because many times we don’t discuss how culture can affect what we find normal. And as Christians, our culture is the gospel; it determines everything else. I’ll talk about how Christ disrupted toxic masculinity.
In most cases, before Christ performed a miracle, the Bible said that he had compassion. Another word for compassion is empathy, love, affection. He cared for the needs of others. Masculinity is not synonymous to being mean and apathetic.
Godly masculinity is humble. There’s no ‘manly ego’ in Christ. I mean, Christ who was God in human form washed the feet of his disciples, and after doing this, He told them that He set an example and they should go out doing same. If Jesus was humble, who are you dear?🌝
Many times, as men we associate lack of self control to masculinity, but Jesus himself exhibited a great level of self control. He was tempted by the devil three times with mouth-watering offers, he didn’t fall. He had self control!!!! He wasn’t moved by what he saw!!!!!!!
Being promiscuous doesn’t make you a man. Society tends to celebrate randy men, but what are we called to do? Romans 13:13 says that we as children of God shouldn’t participate in sexual promiscuity and immoral living. We are dead to the flesh!!!
Jesus was never ashamed to cry. He swept when Lazarus died. He wept few hours to his crucifixion. He wept when he cried: “my God my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” He was never ashamed to show that he was in touch with his feelings. It’s okay to cry as a man.
Finally, as children of God, we are called to a life in the spirit & when we yield, the fruit of the spirit is evident in us which are: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. There’s no toxic masculinity in Holy Spirit.
Toxic masculinity is not natural. It is learned, and as a Christian man, you should yield yourself to the Holy Spirit to mold you into what is expected; nothing less than the example Christ showed and the fruit of the spirit.
