There is one thing that you might want to consider vis-a-vis the Chinese stand off.
China isn't Pakistan, it ain't stupid. It is a very rational entity and takes cold calculated steps.
They aren't one bit surprised by our maneuvers, they expected us to outsmart them tactically however they knew we won't give them the chance to do anything beyond what they achieved in April.
So they technically have achieved what they wanted to achieve. Also we have demonstrated the intent to inflict serious pain to them if challenged. However, our moves tactically dominates China in Eastern Ladakh. They certainly didn't anticipate that.
Strategically it increases the "cost of engagement" for us. Like the Vietnamese did for Americans, and We do it with Pakistan. M
Meanwhile China will be happy sitting where it is. With roads leading up to the very last (Oxygenate) huts they have built. All along the LoC.
They'll now focus on Air defense and enhancing of air power in the Tibetan region. Make no mistake they'll ramp up defense and logistics.
With almost $250 billion allocation in defence it shouldn't be much difficult for them. So effectively if things don't get kinetic in the Ladakh sector we have effectively achieved a stalemate.
Chinese have limited availability to take casualties, and as I have pointed out. Most of their weapons are stand off weapons, add a swarm of drones. This is going to be something else. They don't intend to fight man to man. Rather it's going to be rain of missile and guided bombs
So what do the Chinese intend to achieve with this entire fracas and create a enemy out if a billion+ people?
1. Settle the border dispute on their terms.
2. Establish themselves as the top dog in Asia.
3. Increase the costs of our defenses which we can ill afford at this time.
because we have a lot of ground to cover on our socio economic indicators and the Finance ministry has also taken a massive hit, due to COVID19.
I am certain that in a ground combat situation they'll heavily lose. Thing is they also know the same... and the Chinese aren't stupid.
This makes me wonder what end game are the Chinese looking at?
More importantly what kind of end game they are anticipating of us and what do we have in mind.
Despite 6 months on.. it's too early to tell
