okay. alright. let& #39;s examine some of the talking points I& #39;ve seen & #39;pro-ship& #39; people use in defense of drawing underage characters in explicit situations (i& #39;ll abbreviate as VCP, for virtual cp)
>it& #39;s just fiction, fiction doesn& #39;t affect reality
demonstrably untrue. you& #39;ve heard this one before. Jaws and shark populations, propaganda films, racist depictions of marginalized people (minstrel shows, & #39;mammy& #39; caricatures, etc).

>it doesn& #39;t hurt real kids
VCP is used by groomers to normalize the concept to minors and desensitize them to it. even if not used directly for those purposes, the consumption of VCP by minors can have the same effect...

...“Viewing such images can desensitise the viewer to acts of child abuse, and reinforce the message that such behaviour is acceptable."

"...The whole value system of a child will be affected. It can affect their emotional growth. When they are not psychologically and emotionally ready and they are exposed to such materials, some of them can be overwhelmed and start to fantasise deeply”

...(quote cited in a literature review on the misuse of social networking sites for grooming children for sexual offences from the Australian Institute of Criminology, in reference to a virtual r*pe game of a fictional girl)
>it& #39;s a coping mechanism
A survivor drawing their experiences privately is not the same as disseminating it onto Twitter, at which point you have willfully relinquished control of that extremely sensitive material to an audience you cannot trace...

...I SINCERELY doubt your therapist recommended that you post it to Twitter. If you want to find other survivors, seek group therapy or help forums, rather than claiming a dangerous activity with lots of collateral damage is the best way to find community.
>but fictional violence is okay!
firstly, media does over-glorify violence. even still, violence has a direct and obviously harmful effect. most well-adjusted people cannot rationalize it. VCP is often presented innocuously, couched in obfuscating terms....

....and because the harm is less VISIBLY direct, because the activity involves some modicum of gratification + pleasure, because that activity becomes normal when you reach adulthood, it is far easier to justify it to oneself and one& #39;s victims...
...You might contend that there have been real crimes attributed to violent media, which is true! By the same token, then, VCP can have an even more potent influence. Yet I don& #39;t see any of you earnestly speaking out against excessive violence in media. So are both okay to you?
>it& #39;s not illegal
You& #39;re right, it& #39;s not illegal. There are a lot of reprehensible crimes against humanity that ARE legal, past and present. That aside, what isn& #39;t/shouldn& #39;t be punished by a government can still be punished societally and individually. This is a moot point.

>you& #39;re encouraging censorship!
again, individuals are not an overreaching government. Your freedom of expression is not infringed upon when individuals take issue with you drawing VCP.

>separate the art from the artist!
this is only possible if
a. the artist is from a past era and their art is contextualized by the time (and even then, this is only possible sometimes)
or
b. their work does not POSITIVELY depict what is being condemned

...in this case, the artists which are being criticized draw VCP, post it, rationalize it, chalk objections up to "cancel culture," use the concept of "cancel culture" to fearmonger and indoctrinate vulnerable people, and in some cases, also defend real predatory relationships.
You are not being censored. You are not being "cancelled." You are not immune to criticism, to condemnation of what you produce. All one needs to substantiate this harm-based argument is the testimonial of real people who were groomed/traumatized just like this.
