. @jjhorgan still struggling on day 2 to explain necessity of election call. Says he started to want one in summer, w/ Green opposing some bills, and raised prospect of Greens defeating him on confidence motion in Feb (Greens deny this, say they offered support).
Also, Horgan cites “the level of contempt and acrimony between the parties” during question period this spring (the NDP has never raised this issue until now).
Horgan says re: Greens: "There was suggestions that support would not be forthcoming for the upcoming budget if certain things didn't happen. I don't believe that's the type of attitude that we need, when we're going through a pandemic.”
Furstenau said yesterday the CASA agreement with NDP was not a document in which the Greens were subservient without being able to provide input, and was not designed to whip them into obeying all the NDP’s ideas.
Horgan also says once he started thinking of an elxn in summer he canvassed MLAs if they were running again, and 15 told him no. So, he says, those MLAs were as focused on constituents as they had been in past and election needed for this reason as well.
