Over the past few days, we have all seen WAY too much talk of Anthony Davis being better than Tim Duncan.

Because of this, I have decided to make a thread comparing their first 8 seasons in the league.

(Thread Below)
AD has played 8 Seasons thus far in the NBA. So I will compare his current career to Tim Duncan’s first 8 years.

Tim Duncan’s First 8 Season:
22.5 PPG, 12.2 RPG, 3.1 APG, 0.8 SPG, 2.5 BPG, 55.4 TS%, 106 TS+
25.3 PER, 54.1 OWS, 52.3 DWS, 106.4 WS, .227 WS/48, 4.1 OBPM, 2.3 DBPM, 6.3 BPM, 47.3 VORP

2x MVP, 3x Champion, 3x FMVP, 8x All NBA (all were 1st Team), 8x All Defensive (6 were 1st Team), 7x All Star, 8x MVP Top 5 Finish, 4x DPOY Top 5 Finish
Since AD has only played in 3 playoffs thus far, I wouldn’t find it fair to post Duncan’s full playoff stats because that would include his early years when he was not as good. Meanwhile AD has played all 3 of his playoffs during his prime. So, I decided to take Tim Duncan’s best
3 playoff runs.

Tim Duncan’s Playoffs 2001-2003:
25.2 PPG, 14.9 RPG, 4.8 APG, 0.8 SPG, 3.3 BPG, 55.8 TS%

28.3 PER, 5.2 OWS, 4.6 DWS, 9.8 WS, .244 WS/48, 5.7 OBPM, 3.8 DBPM, 9.5 BPM, 5.6 VORP
In this span, Duncan had one of the greatest playoff runs of all time in the 2003 Playoffs.

Anthony Davis’s Career:
24.0 PPG, 10.4 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1.4 SPG, 2.4 BPG, 58.8 TS%, 107 TS+

27.4 PER, 53.1 OWS, 30.0 DWS, 83.1 WS, .219 WS/48, 4.8 OBPM, 1.5 DBPM, 6.3 BPM, 38.1 VORP
4x All NBA (all 4 were 1st Team), 4x All Defensive (2 were first team), 7x All Star, 2 MVP Top 5 Finishes, 3 DPOY Top 5 Finishes

Anthony Davis Playoffs Stats:
29.6 PPG, 11.7 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.4 SPG, 2.0 BPG, 61.9 TS%
28.8 PER, 3.2 OWS, 1.5 DWS, 4.8 WS, .240 WS/48, 5.6 OBPM, 1.8 DBPM, 7.3 BPM, 2.3 VORP

I honestly don’t understand why this is a conversation. AD is clearly the better scorer. No doubt about that. But practically every other aspect? That’s Duncan. And the Accolades speak for
Themselves.
