why is this my vibe for morris....
I'm always torn between drawing him as a soft cottagecore-esque fae in a garden of pale blossoms and drawing him as a manic necromancer blackened with blood
get you a man who can do both I guess?

my vibes for cierris:
Charle: dead, clanking machinery in an oily workshop // lively people and big social gatherings
Morris: lush green plants in a peaceful garden // sick and dying people in solemn hospitals and the reanimated dead

Further thoughts:
Charle: enhancement and quality of life improvements // social fulfillment and community building
Morris: protection and preservation of life // prevention against (further) loss; recycling

I wonder about this, (barring Charle's initiation of the Runic Guardian project) it seems to my mind that Morris has a more basal, primal focus on survival whereas Charle is more comfortable in his personhood
Probably bc no one as clearly capable of immense love and compassion as Morris acts like that much of an uncaring callous douchebag without some form of vicious, unprocessed trauma.
Whenever he acts like a jerk it always comes off to me like a wounded animal lashing out in fear

[One believes the other has wronged them]
Charle: *Disappointment, sadness, confusion. Silent huffing, asking for explanations, self-doubt. Probably cries. openly.*
Morris: *Lashing out, angry tirades. Ignoring, shutting out emotion with overwork. Self-flagellation*

so basically "Morris is Extremely & Profoundly Emotionally Unhealthy and Immature" is my conclusion and no one is surprised
Reinforcing my hc that he had an extremely rough childhood (emotional neglect? abuse? parental death?) with a healthy dose of scarcity mindset on top

on death:
Gotthold's death seems to shock Charle into needing to build the RG. Morris' reaction (naturally more subdued by his emotional distance) is also very compassionate and understanding to Charle, like he deals with grieving a lot and knows what it's like/how to handle it

first off he's a doctor (so JOT THAT DOWN RAYARK) so he prolly has dealt with death and grief professionally. But that he never before has thought to build the RG? Atlas dangers aren't unknown. Why is he shocked when Charle wants to do it?
He's shown to be proactive and innovative. Uniquely so, even. He's shown to use those skills to heal and protect (even if he acts like an ass throughout). So why hasn't he taken the initiative to make an RG?
I can only think he got too used to the death from overexposure

Charle notes (and Morris jokes abt it self-aware) that Morris cannot bring himself to admit weakness, vulnerability, or to ask for help. It's a type of pride so self-destructive he /nearly died/ because he saw sth as his responsibility and never considered asking for back up
People that prideful are in the end people who are deeply terrified of trusting and relying on others. Even if he saw everyone as idiots, a leader with a clear vision could direct a team to resolve the issue safely even in crisis. but Morris doesn't trust in teams. or anyone
what about aosta, surely he trusts his greatest pupil?
he doesn't, not really. when he was in danger he never once thought "shit i wish clovis were here to back me up". when aosta solved a problem he could not, as his teacher, he wasn't proud, he got angry

wow I got carried away and ended up writing a whole ass character meta essay whoops. I'll transfer this over to my private notes when I wake up tmr then delete this thread lmao
