As someone who grew up in a conservative "redneck" town...

Real rednecks recognize police as what they are; personal tools of the elite who keep the oppressed oppressed and the poor poor.

Regardless of political alignment, actual rednecks reject modern policing.
If you're a cop-lovin' redneck, you weren't raised a redneck; you were sold the romanticized redneck high-life by republican media, and that ain't it.

Real rednecks come to the realization sooner or later that they belong on the left where worker's rights advocacy lives.
I didn't always get politics right as a kid. I was too busy trying to get by to pay attention the larger scope of things.

But we knew enough even in our local community space that cops were trouble.

And we would spend much of our free time fucking with police.
Everything from blocking police traffic radar spots by stacking used tires where they like to sit.

...to straight up stealing their speed cameras.

...to faking bar fights and street races to waste the system's time so their not spending their day issuing fines.
Whole communities would coordinate ground explosives with air explosives on fireworks days so that cops couldn't tell where they were coming from to issue fines.

And no one.

NO ONE.

...was a snitch.
The "stealing speed camera's" thing was an ongoing community inside joke.

Police put bigger and bigger locks on the camera box, but it didn't matter.

They put gps on the cameras - didn't matter.

They added cameras to monitor the cameras - didn't matter.
It was a mostly blue collar town and each of us had a trade specialty to defeat whatever system was put in place.

Every other week you could drive by and see the camera box vandalized in some new creative way.

Sometimes you could even tell whose handiwork it was. :P
My favorite one was when police swapped the camera box glass with glass the wouldn't allow spray paint to stick to it.

...so someone welded a steel plate over the glass.
The best part about all of this is that police don't install this surveillance themselves; they contract workers from the local community.

So in a roundabout way, we were returning stolen monies (police budget) back to the community.
