republicans have had every opportunity to choose stability, and have very clearly chosen chaos, so start ordering your gas masks and kneepads and goggles now, because we're going to have to get on the streets in november and we're going to have to stay there.
it's (probably) no longer a question of "can democrats beat the republicans". i think they can. it's now a question of "what lengths are the republicans willing to go to if they get beaten?"
this isn't defeatism. we are the majority, and they know it. we can win fair elections. we can beat them in a fair fight. they are signaling with red flashing lights that they know it.
VOTE, VOTE, VOTE, and be prepared to get out and demonstrate to prove that your vote matters.
i'm simply done with the idea that voting is all it's going to take, but i'm equally done with the idea that nothing matters, and that it's all over, forever. smaller countries have beaten much more dangerous and competent regimes than this in very recent history.
i'm as tired of revolutionary cosplay as the rest of you are, but i don't know how you look at everything that's happening and come to the conclusion that voting is all it will take. it will take more than that, but recognizing that isn't bloodthirsty chaos porn.
the republican party is very clearly stating that they choose minority rule for as long as they can hold it, and that they will do everything in their power to preserve it if we do nothing to reject it. it's up to us to reject it.
so get your helmets and your goggles and your eyewash kits all lined up and ready to go, and get a good pair of comfortable sneakers or boots. we will not be rid of these people until we rid ourselves of them.
your vote *does* matter, and you need to begin to prepare for the idea that you're going to have to prove it.
remember: these people are, fundamentally, cowards. that's why this is happening. that's why all of this has happened. vote, in every election, every year, but also realize that it's not going to be enough. we're all going to have to get a little scuffed up if we want to keep it.
we vote in november, and we vote these people out, and then ten or fifteen million of us stay in the streets until they leave. that's what it's going to take.
i'm not an accelerationist, nor do i think i'm a radical. far from it. i believe in democracy, and i refuse to let these fucking radical, reactionary clowns overrule a democratically elected majority. i refuse to be governed by fucking cowards who can't win by fair rules.
so vote. vote for biden and harris. vote democrat up and down the ticket. but get ready for the possibility that these people are going to lie to you and insist that your vote not be counted, or that it doesn't matter, and be prepared to prove them wrong.
we don't need to smash windows. we don't need the guillotine. everyone that tells you that just wants chaos. i don't want chaos. the last four years has been nothing but chaos. i want democracy, and i'm willing to shut everything down until we get it back, and you should be, too.
i mean, ask yourself: are you willing to put up with another four years of this? another forty? these people will insist that fear and intimidation will preserve their power right up until the moment that you demonstrate to them that they are wrong.
are you afraid of mitt fucking romney? are you afraid of cory gardner? are you afraid of jared kushner? we aren't talking about bloodthirsty tyrants here, we're talking about lily-white cowards who will do everything they can to keep their collars starched on your dime.
america is an imperfect place, but it's worth fighting for, and i simply refuse to be ruled by the worst fucking people it has to offer, who demand to rule — not govern — because they're rich and white and willing to talk over you until you give up. fuck these people.
this isn't russia. it's not belarus. it's not syria. it's not hong kong. we aren't up against a ruthless tyrannical state that's willing to spill blood in the streets for as long as it takes. we're up against your neighborhood car dealership owner and a couple of his cousins.
