Two weeks ago I thought the Jaguars were certain tankers and would have a good chance at going 0-16. Watching Brian Flores& #39; play calling from this weekend and looks like I& #39;m picking the Jaguars to go 2-1.
He tried to play the Patriots strategy, man coverage all over the field and Bills receivers were wide open all game.
The Bills didn& #39;t even have to change up their play calling. Just run crossing routes every play and both receivers will be open every play.
I& #39;m only in the second quarter.
It& #39;s compounded by no pass rush meaning the QB can actually just wait for WRs to come open. McKenzie runs a shallow drag on this play but turns upfield after completing the route. He& #39;s wide open at that point.
Oh my god.
They changed up the coverage and still couldn& #39;t cover the crossers. Allen doesn& #39;t see the wide open touchdown but gets 15 yards throwing to the triple-covered WR who is open.
Box score numbers are never relevant to anything but if he can hit this throw at least semi-competently, last year he couldn& #39;t hit it at all, it& #39;ll be a huge step up over last season.
These cornerbacks are probably getting rinsed in meetings this week but they& #39;ve gotta turn around to the coach and ask what he expects when they& #39;re expected to cover the whole damn field one-on-one.
Josh Allen went 0/8 on 40+ yard throws in 2019. He was 2/10 for his career entering this game. This was his first accurate 40+ yard throw since his rookie season:
