How fast or who should be nominated for SCOTUS is important discussion point, agreed. It will play out; likely in favor of Trump securing McConnell’s pick (anyone who thinks Trump has capacity to make the selection or care one whit about it gives him undue credit) 1/6
I’m of the opinion that clamoring for a 2nd impeachment to prevent the vote would not benefit those that oppose Trump’s re-election. It would, in fact, align perfectly with his consistent strategy of a continual, confusing, obfuscating muddying of the waters. 2/6
The anti-Trump strategy that seems most powerful here is to shine the brightest light possible on the lying, the hypocrisy and unapologetic pursuit of unfettered power by POTUS, by Senate GOP, by Barr, by HHS. 3/6
Will it matter who is appointed if the power grab of the Executive Branch supersedes other branches? If the independent guiding principles of the military, law-enforcement and scientific entities of the US government are diminished to a role of simple affirmation of a despot? 4/6
The rule of law is only as good as the willingness of the people to abide by it. This President, his AG and others have repeatedly demonstrated that they will not. The Congress has jettisoned their duty to check this to pursue personal power and financial gain. 5/6
The remedy is to NOT LOSE FOCUS. The opposition must lead the conversation, not chase it. Removing Trump, Barr, Senate GOP by a decisive election is the surest answer to protecting the Republic as it was meant to serve its purpose. 6
