here are all the shows metallica did in the US in the eligibility period. only eight. eight! and do you see the difference in numbers?

let's round up (up!) the revenue of metallica's shows and add them. 2 million + 2 mil + 2 mil + 3 mil + 2 mil + 2 = 13 million.

BTS' lowest revenue tour site, chicago (2 dates) did $13 million.

in 2 dates, they outsold metallica's entire north american leg as reported.

remember, that's in the march-to-march eligibility period, not for the entire 2019 leg.

now of course, metallica did 2 dates at the chase center as well, and those numbers are not reported on wikipedia. i highly doubt they came close to making metallica eclipse $40+ million.
