Thread
1/n The purpose of this thread is to offer a perspective of modesty and its implications for our moral character. The tweet I'm quoting forced me to write this. This is the state we have been reduced to and we feel no shame in flaunting our sins.
On an individual level, we are all sinners and we are none to judge anyone but this culture of taking pride in committing wrong is something we need to be really concerned about. This is gradually imbibing in our society like a venom and will eventually gulp us all.
When we question this immodesty and carefree culture we are often accused of being obsessed with the technicalities of our faith which in itself is a shame for a Muslim community. The concern is about shunning the moral values that are the basics of our faith
Which include morality of one's own conscience as a muslim.
As the saying of Rasoolullah ﷺ goes 'THE MOST EXCELLENT JIHAD IS THAT FOR THE CONQUEST OF SELF. AND THE MOST AUTHENTIC MORALITY IS THE MORALITY AND CHASTITY OF THE CONSCIENCE. Let's decide for ourselves where we stand.
We live in such era in which modesty rules are about to be forgotten more than ever. Even this odd phenomenon day to day is normalizing as one of symbols of freedom and socializing. Teachings of Islam are full of recommendations about modesty.
Modesty in Islam is considered a fundamental to one’s faith and a way to save mankind from transgression. It is obtaining a state in soul by which it avoids from domination of lust.
Modesty is not a social construct, but a natural response. And modesty is not prudery, but a way to preserve a sense of the obscene in our lives. The derivatives of modesty have been used in the Quran for four times.
A sense of haya should affect a Muslim's conduct before Allah, before others and even when he is alone. Every religion has a distinctive virtue and the virtue of Islam is 'modesty'.When lewedness becomes our part, we become defective ane when haya is our part, we become beautiful
May Allah grant us hidayah and beautify us with modesty and protective jealousy for each other! Aameen.
