2- The mercenaries of the Seleucid prince Herodotus ( Tryphon) destroyed the port of Beirut in 143 BC after his failed attempt to seize the throne of the Hellenistic Seleucid king Antiochus VI Dionysus in retaliation.
3- 974 AC: Byzantine emperor John I Tzimiskes gives orders to his army to destroy the city of Beirut and its port
4- 1772 the Russian warships bombarded Beirut port causing damage to the city& #39;s sea citadel, wall, and neighboring towers. A similar attack took place one year later, in the summer of 1773, the Russian fleet sets a blockade on Beirut and kicks the Ottomans out of the city.
6- Forgot this one from 1197 AD: Beirut port was heavily damaged during the battle between the Crusaders and the Ayyubids.
